About S.S. Sapona Shipwreck

The S.S. Sapona is a concrete-hulled ship that ran aground during a 1926 hurricane a few miles off South Bimini. After earlier service as storage during Prohibition and later use for military target practice, the wreck became a navigational landmark and habitat for tropical fish. It rests in about 15 feet of water and is visited by boat for snorkeling and diving.
