The swimming pigs are best visited in the morning before day-tripper boats arrive. Stay at least 3 nights in the Exumas to do a private or semi-private boat tour. Do not feed the pigs alcohol — several have died from tourist negligence. Hot dogs and fresh fruit are better options.
Compass Cay: Touch a Nurse Shark
At Compass Cay marina, dozens of nurse sharks congregate around the dock. You can wade in and touch them — they are completely docile and used to humans. The marina also has excellent snorkeling in the nearby cut.
